JAG Missouri is more than a program—it’s a lifeline for students who once believed they had no future. 

Our students enter JAG facing enormous challenges: trauma, instability, poverty, fear of failure, or simply feeling invisible. Many have stopped believing in themselves long before anyone else started. 

But JAG changes that. 

Kaleah’s story says it best: 

"I went from planning to drop out to picking out my cap and gown for graduation. From believing I would never amount to anything, to becoming the president of my school’s JAG program. From having no direction, to applying to colleges that align with my future." 

"This program didn’t save my life. It taught me how to save my own." 

At just 15, Kaleah was spiraling. Today, she is a graduate with college acceptance letters, leadership experience, and a new sense of purpose. JAG didn’t give her a shortcut—it gave her tools, confidence, and a team that believed in her before she believed in herself. 

Mitchell, now a certified EMT and firefighter in Southwest Missouri, says: 

"Before I joined JAG, I was lost... JAG provided assistance in pinpointing a career and making steps in order to pursue it. My JAG Specialist motivated me to make connections and continue my education in the emergency response industry. JAG changed my life!" 

And he’s not alone. 

Students like Jamie, Matthew, McKinsey, Lilli, Elizabeth, Josh, Jett, and Haliegh echo the same transformation—once shy, disengaged, struggling, and afraid… now confident, ambitious, and connected to education, employment, and their future.

● Lilli went from deep depression and self-harm to being nearly 2 years self-harm free and applying to college. 

● Jett, who once drowned out the world with music, now volunteers for every community service event.

These students are proof that belief, belonging, and purpose can change everything. But the impact doesn’t end with the student.

Our alumni become EMTs, welders, counselors, teachers, engineers, firefighters, and leaders—filling critical gaps across the state. 

In Southwest Missouri, where economic barriers and limited access often collide, JAG students like Mitchell are stepping into high-need roles and staying in their communities—strengthening local economies and ensuring that employers have the workforce they desperately need.
